Privacy Policy
Pulse News ("we", "the service") is operated by Pulse News Company. This policy explains what we collect when you use the Pulse News apps and website, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short because we collect little.
What we collect
- Account data. If you sign up with a username and password: your username and a one-way hash of your password (we never store the password itself). If you sign in with Google: your Google account identifier and the email address of your Google account. We do not receive your Google password and we do not access any other Google data.
- Your topics. The categories you create and the topics you follow, so we can build your feed.
- Technical logs. Our web server records each request's IP address, time, address requested and browser or app identifier. These logs are deleted after 14 days. Application logs, which can include your username when an account is created or deleted, are kept for up to about three months for troubleshooting.
We do not collect your location, contacts, or device identifiers for advertising. We use no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking.
How we use it
Only to provide the service: to sign you in, show your feeds, keep the service secure (for example to block repeated failed sign-in attempts) and fix problems. We do not sell or rent personal data and do not use it for advertising.
Who else is involved
- Microsoft Azure hosts our servers and database in the United States.
- Google, only if you choose Sign in with Google; Google's own privacy policy applies to your Google account.
- News publishers. Articles open on the publisher's website, which has its own privacy policy. We find articles through Google News.
Storage and security
Data is stored in Microsoft Azure data centres in the United States, transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS 1.3), and accessible only to the operator. Database backups are kept for 7 days.
Your choices
- Delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete account). This immediately removes your account, categories and topics; copies in backups disappear within 7 days.
- Access or correction. Contact us and we will tell you what we hold about you.
Children
Pulse News is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above; significant changes will be announced in the app.
